Wrexham Football Club Planning permission has been granted for a major development of student accommodation at Wrexham Football Club’s Racecourse Ground. The scheme will provide over 800 student units for the neighbouring Glyndwr University and is one of a number of proposals aimed at ensuring the long-term financial security of the club. The student housing will be built on land currently used for car parking and on other disused waste land adjacent to the ground. News of the project will provide a much-needed boost for the local construction industry. It is hoped that the first phase of development of the student units will be completed in time for student induction in 2010. Further proposals include building an all-new Kop Stand with ‘multi-function’ facilities for businesses and the local community.
